Setup

Setup on Linux

STEP 01

Download the installer

Download the latest Shrinkray installer from the GitHub Releases page (https://github.com/bensblueprints/image-compressor-mvp/releases) — or build it yourself from the MIT source.

STEP 02

Install

Run the installer — one click, no terminal, no account to create.

STEP 03

Run it locally

Shrinkray runs 100% on your machine — no account, no telemetry, and it keeps working with the Wi-Fi off.

What works offline: everything. Shrinkray is a desktop app — once it's installed, no feature needs a connection to us.

FAQ

Shrinkray on Linux — honest answers

Is it really free on GitHub?

Yes — MIT source at github.com/bensblueprints/image-compressor-mvp. $19 gets you the signed installer, 1-click setup and updates.

Is the compression as good as TinyPNG?

It uses sharp/libvips with mozjpeg-grade encoders — the same engines behind most professional pipelines. At equal quality settings, results are comparable; you also get AVIF, which typically beats PNG/JPG sizes outright.
